Challenge three is up!! You can find it here.
Challenge 3 is brought to you by the fabulous folks at Scrappers Online.

Scrappers Online is a new scrapping community with a focus on friendship and learning. Open and inclusive, they have boards for digital, paper and hybrid scrapping, as well as stamping. But their emphasis is tutorials. Their goal is to become *the* site where everyone goes to learn, and as such are always adding links to new tutorials out on the web, or creating their own. They offer regular challenges that not only prompts you to create something but also helps you learn a new technique along the way.
They just launched the new forum software where the forums integrate with your open galley and your personalized blog too! You can journal about your scrapping journey right on the site and inspire other scrappers along with getting inspired from your fellow scrappers at the same time. If you love to write articles about hybrid projects or the new technique you just learned, they have an area just for you where you can share you knowledge with everyone else!

Challenge 2 is brought to you by the Digital Scrapbook Artisan Guild, lovingly known to us as DSAG. If this is your first experience with DSAG, you’ll want to spend a little more time checking them out after you’ve completed your challenge. As a sister site to NDISB, we can’t say enough good things about this site. But don’t take our word for it, check them out for yourselves!
The Digital Scrapbook Artisan Guild is dedicated to teaching and inspiring people in the craft of digital scrapbook design. Membership to the Guild entitles members to a monthly Guild kit and a subscription to our monthly on-line magazine The Artisan Notebook ™. In affiliation with Natural Designs in Scrapbooking we offer a complete curriculum of design and program classes that teach how to use photo editing programs (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro) to create digital scrapbook layouts. Additionally we have an extensive curriculum of design classes that help students grow in their artistic expression.
If you’ve never read an edition of the Artisan Notebook, you’re in for a treat. Each edition is not just a magazine, it’s a work of art itself!
ADSR5 Update: February 8, 2010
Challenge 2 can be found here.
Theresa is a kind and wonderful leader!
Because of the site implosion, and losing our database of all of our loyal customers and newsletter subscribers, we have lost touch with many in the digi-scrapping world. As a result, some had missed the ADSR5 registration, because they didn’t know that it was taking place. They did not receive word from us.
So… Theresa has offered to re-open registration. But… you must register this week, and complete the first week challenges by Sunday, just like everybody else. If you can do these things, you may join the ADSR5!
If any racers know anyone that wanted to participate, but missed the registration, this is their chance. We will not likely do this ever again, but due to our site meltdown, and resultant database loss, T felt that this was the right thing to do. (Now you know why I married her! ) (Too sappy? Remember, Valentine’s day is coming up!
)
We will accept all registrants that read the rules and submit a proper registration, and they must complete challenges one and two by midnight EST Sunday, Feb. 14.
Hurry!
The first challenge has been spotted. You can find it here.
Registration has closed and the first challenge is right around the corner. We tallied 200 teams exactly for Season 5 of the ADSR. You no doubt have also noticed the sleek new ADSR5 graphic that tops this page. Many thanks to Audrey~Phil4v4 for ADSR5 graphics creation.
The challenge hosts for ADSR5 are listed below, and can also be found in the ADSR5 forum.
- Aimee Asher
- Digitals
- Digital Scrapbook Artisan Guild
- Elemental Scraps
- Inspiration Lane
- Natural Designs in Scrapbooking
- Oscraps
- Polka Dot Plum
- Pretty Scrappy
- Scrap Orchard
- Scrappers Online
- Scrappity Do Dah
All ADSR5 Updates can be seen by clicking on ADSR under “Find Articles by Category” in the right hand column.
We have added some new information that you may wish to see in the ADSR5 Forum. While not rules, there is some helpful guidance for you. Check it out!
SEASON 5 RULES:
At Natural Designs in Scrapbooking (NDISB), we’ve come up with a cool internet digital scrapping game that will mirror the excitement of the TV reality show “The Amazing Race.” Teams of two will traverse the digital scrapbooking world, site by site, completing challenges and collecting prizes along the way. Everyone who completes the week’s challenges in the allotted time frame will move on to the next week, where they can collect even MORE prizes! And at the end of the race, everyone who has travelled around the digital scrapbooking world and completed each and every challenge will be entered into a drawing for the GRAND prize! Welcome to the Amazing Digi Scrapping Race – Season 5!
REGISTRATION:
Team registration begins on Friday, January 15, 2010. The deadline to register is midnight Pacific Standard Time Sunday, January 31, 2010. So the first thing you have to do is find yourself a partner! Once you’ve done that, please send ONE email per team to RaceHost at ndisb dot com with the following required information:
- Your Team Name:
- Racer 1 Name:
Racer 1 Email:
Racer 1 NDISB Forum Display name*: - Racer 2 Name:
Racer 2 Email:
Racer 2 NDISB Forum Display name*:
*Participation in the Amazing Digi Scrapping Race requires registration in the Natural Designs Forum. Our forum uses a double verification registration to minimize spam. After you register, you will still need to be verified by a real live person to make sure that you are not a spammer. We generally get to this once a day, so please be patient.
If you wish you may also create a team blinkie for your forum signature and/or link to your team’s blog, if you have one.
OFFICIAL GALLERY:
The official ADSR5 Gallery is a gallery within the NDISB Gallery.
Each challenge will have its own sub-gallery at NDISB. The Challenge Galleries will be titled ADSR5.1, ADSR5.2, etc., to correspond with the challenge number. You will upload your challenge layouts to the corresponding challenge gallery. By default, they will also show in your member profile. You may also upload any other layouts you wish directly to albums that you create in the Members Gallery.
GRAND PRIZE:
We will have a Grand Prize winning team as well as two runners up. The Grand Prize pool will be split with 50% going to the Grand Prize team and 25% each to the two runners up teams. All teams completing all ADSR5 challenges by the deadline will be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. NDISB Designers and NDISB Creative Team members, as well as their teammates, are not eligible for the Grand Prize drawing.
THE CHALLENGES:
There will be two challenges each week over the course of the six week race. There will be a total of twelve challenges.
FIRST CHALLENGE:
The first challenge will be posted on Sunday, February 7, 2010. A link to the challenge will be posted on the ADSR5 page at NDISB as soon as it is received by the Race Host. Each participating site will host a single challenge, but the rotation, dates and challenges are a secret until they are officially posted.
SUBSEQUENT CHALLENGES:
Challenge Two will be posted on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Subsequent challenges will be posted by midnight Pacific Standard Time each following Sunday and Tuesday. Both weekly challenges must be uploaded to the Natural Designs ADSR5 Gallery by midnight Eastern Standard Time the following Sunday to qualify to continue in the Race. Each participating site will host a single challenge, but the rotation, dates and challenges are a secret until they are officially posted. The links to the challenges will be posted at NDISB as soon as possible. You can also “stalk” the known sites and keep your eyes peeled for challenges before they are posted at NDISB. Challenge sites will be posted on the ADSR5 page at NDISB.
QUALIFICATION:
A challenge is considered complete when:
- The challenge(s) have been completed according to the challenge rules,
- The challenge(s) are uploaded to the appropriate NDISB ADSR5 gallery subcategory, and
- Each racer has posted a link to their official layout in this forum. Each team will have their own thread, based on their team number. As you post your layouts to the NDISB Gallery, please post a new reply in your thread with the link to those galleries. And each partner may post to the thread as they post their layout. BUT – BOTH LAYOUTS NEED TO BE UPLOADED BEFORE THE DEADLINE! To eliminate confusion, we will post a clock on the ADSR5 page of NDISB with the current time in New York.
Everyone who has completed Week One will qualify to continue racing during Week Two, and the fun begins all over again. THERE IS NO JUDGING, AND THE ONLY WAY TO BE ELIMINATED IS TO FAIL TO COMPLETE THE WEEK’S CHALLENGES.
CHALLENGE VERIFICATION AND CLARIFICATION:
Each challenge layout will be verified for completion by NDISB, or the site that issues the challenge. Uploaded layouts may not be verified until the Saturday or Sunday of the deadline weekend no matter when uploaded to NDISB. If verification is not completed until the deadline Sunday, and a layout needs to be modified to meet the guidelines of the challenge, an extension to midnight Eastern Standard Time on Monday will be offered to modify the layout to meet the challenge guidelines. Grand Prize eligibility will be maintained if the correctly modified layout is submitted prior to the extension deadline.
Requests for challenge clarification should be made to the site that issues the challenge, not to NDISB. Any requests for clarification received by NDISB will be forwarded to the issuing site.
CHALLENGE PRIZES:
Each time you complete a challenge you will receive a prize from the host site. You may receive a direct link for the prize, or you may receive a coupon code. Prizes and delivery of said prizes are at the discretion of the site host only. The Race Host has no control over what the prizes will be or how the site host will choose to deliver them. You will never be required to sign up for newsletters, or purchase anything in order to participate in the Race. You may, however, be required to register in a site’s store in order to redeem a coupon.
There will be a hidden forum for posting of prize codes, download links, etc. When you register, you will need to send your NDISB Forum Display name so we can add you to the hidden forum.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your application to participate in The Amazing Digi Scrapping Race constitutes an agreement that any prizes or codes obtained in the course of the Race are NOT to be distributed by any means. Terms of use in each prize MUST be honored by all Racers. Failure to comply will result in dismissal from the Race and your application for future Races will be denied. Digital piracy will not be tolerated.
CONTINUING ON SOLO:
If for some reason during the course of the Race your teammate cannot continue, you have two options:
- Continue the race solo, completing the challenges alone and collecting the weekly prizes, but you are then ineligible for the Grand Prize drawing, or
- Find another racer who has also been displaced, but has not yet been disqualified. In this way, you are both still eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. For example, Team A has player 1 drop out due to unexpected illness and Team B has player 2 drop out due to computer hard drive crash. The remaining players from Teams A and B can form Team C and continue to race and be fully eligible.
So are you ready? If so, get those applications to me starting Friday, January 15. The deadline to register is midnight Pacific Standard Time Sunday, January 31, 2010. Then start toning up and working on your endurance…you’re going to need all the scrapping strength and mojo you can get if you want to win!

Yay! My mom and I are SO ready to get started again this season!!! We will have to change our name from GrandsDestiney since it was for my granddaughter, and now we have another, Bella-Jo!
Yay I am so excited. Is there a blog for it too or will all the information be posted here?
I’ve found a partner but this will be the first time for both of us. Would like to learn more, it sounds fantastic.! I was primarily a paper scrapper til this summer and then I got into digi with a vengeance, lol.
I think this would be a wonderful experience for both my partner and I.
I can’t wait !
I´ve hear from your project and it sounds very interesting.
I have my partner and we are ready
Looking forward to see what will coming
Amanda, Look for more ADSR5 info here. We will have the ADSR5 page, the ADSR Category and the Forum, which will also have ADSR information. As we get closer, we’ll let you know what gets posted where.
I’ve always wanted to join the ADSR but have always managed to “just miss” it. I’m hoping to get on board this time round but I need a partner… anyone interested in joining with me? You can check out my layout designs at DST and FotoScraps and if you’re interested, send me a PM here at NDISB.
Oooops, LOL, I forgot to give the links to my galleries…

Thanks for looking!
have my partner and working on the blinkie (my first ever)
My partner and I have enjoyed doing the races the last couple of years but the ANTS won’t participate in the race this year. My partner received devastating news and I don’t think she is up to it. And I simply feel, without her it wouldn’t be the same, kwim? I wish you all lots of fun, good luck!
Nathalie, I’m so sorry to hear about your partner. She’s in my thoughts. I understand you not wanting to participate without her. You two will be missed this year
I am so excited for this, I am talking to my partner about it!
I love the timing of ADSR this year. Past the holidays, it will so much easier to keep up. Pam and I will be there.
I cant wait, last year was amazing and the sponsors were fantastic! I am definitely playing again this year! I cant wait to sign up and start! We are so excited
I have a new partner this year but we are gearing up and excited to race! Still trying to decide on a team name though so we can have our blinkies made.
is anyone making blinkies yet?? i’d love to get one made this time!!
My sister and I are in. We’ve just got to get our team name nailed down. We just started digi-scrapping in November, but we are totally hooked. I can’t wait to see what this Amazing Race is all about!
good luck to one and all and most of all have fun!!
sorry to hear about your partner, nathalie.
go go go — win win win — i’ll be a cheerleader <3
YAY! this will be my first time participating! Can’t wait to join in the fun!
Sent in our registration……yay!!
I just joined and am waiting for permission to post in the forum……I need a partner, please.
Wooohooo!! Picking a team name now and we will be sending in our email! I think I’ve only missed one year so far!!
I’ve found a partner and we’ve registered. I can’t wait for the fun to begin.
I got regestired! I can’t wait to start!
I see a few familiar names from last year!
What I can’t see is an ADSR5 blinkie? Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
WOO HOO! can’t wait!
doing it again this year, but with my other daughter this time. She too is new to digi scrapping. So a name change but we can’t think of one yet. looking forward to racing with everyone again this year. Last year was so much fun, and the sponsors were great.
See you all soon
Oh, I’ve been around since the first one… I need to find to a partner ASAP
This sounds really cool! I’ve never participated before. When a site hosts a challenge, do you typically use product from their site or are the challenges more theme-specific than product-specific? I’m on a spending freeze at the moment so I can’t buy anything new, but I already have a hundred gigs of digital supplies so if we can use our existing stash I’d be good to go!
You will not be required to purchase anything in order to participate, Nancy. So you should be good to go with your stash.
Registered with my partner; created an ADSR5 blinkie; now, what’s the next step? What do I do with it? How do I get it on this site?
If my computer was faster this would be fun: as I am competitive. However my computer is so slow (like a turtle) & heats up & crashes, I may have to wait until the next race, next year I suppose. My friend is desiring to do this & I hate to break her heart, but I may have to decline.
Digi-Scrap – you don’t really need a fast computer. You will have 5 to 7 days to finish each layout. Surely you can get your computer to handle that?!
SO excited
Can’t Wait to get started!!!
Ahh bummer we missed the sign ups! we will just have to cheer everyone on.
*sigh* missed registration? OMG
(just can’t believe we won’t be racing this year, as we’ve been here since the very beginning)
*going to a corner to sulk now*
good luck everyone, have fun!
Oh no …. my daughter and I did this last year and were looking forward to doing it again. I looked, what just seemed like a few days ago and registration wasn’t open yet … and now it’s closed.
Is there any way to still sign up??? if a team drops out???
Any way you could email previous participants when it’s time to sign up the next year so they don’t miss it?
Jayn, Vixen – part of the problem why I think some previous participants missed out is because of our site crash and not getting the site newsletters. So if you can grab a partner and get registered and complete your layouts before the first deadline, you can play.
>Big SmileBig Hugs<
Thank you SO much!!! I have sent our registration in. My daughter/partner will probably have her layout done and posted before I’m even home from work today!
You do not need to purchase anything in order to participate. That is one of the cool things about the race. There are no requirements to purchase anything. The only stipulation is that you may be required to register in their store in order to claim your prize, but you won’t be required to buy anything.
The next race kicks off in January. Hope to see you there!
